Competition / Athletic Therapy
Training for Competition
Taekwondo sparring became a full Olympic sport in Sydney 2000. We provide training for kids and adults interested in competitive sparring. Our general mission is to develop our members’ sparring skills at a young age, provide the opportunity and support to experience their first competition or bigger tournaments. Competition training forms strong bonds and relationships and teaches members the value of discipline, diligence, and teamwork. We recommend this program to members wanting to take their taekwondo interest to the next level.
Demonstration & Leadership Team
With its dynamic high kicks, jumps, and spins, Taekwondo can be one of the most visually exciting martial arts. Our demonstration team puts together patterns, board breaks, and self-defense exhibitions that showcase the spectacular nature of this martial art.
Our leadership team consists of long-term members, just getting to black belt level, who want to give back to the club and the community by helping with classes. We teach our leadership team how to become effective and engaging instructors and work together to provide the best Taekwondo experience possible.
Althletic Therapy is the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of injuries pertaining to muscle, bones, and joints. It involves the assessment of physical function and the treatment of dysfunction caused by pain and/or injury.
Various methods are used such as therapeutic massage, soft tissue release, trigger-point therapy, and exercise prescription, as well as the application of taping and bracing techniques for both training and competition. All treatments are dependent on the patient's needs.
An Athletic Therapist's goal is to help clients return to their usual activities, whether that means playing competitive sports or walking to the mailbox and back. At Cascadia, we have certified Athletic Therapists on staff to help keep our members pain-free so they can continue to participate in all the activities they love to do.
